Anthony Stewart, PTR Certified Tennis Professional
Anthony, a native of South Africa, grew up with tennis as a lifestyle, playing since the age of three. Anthony was a top ten nationally ranked junior. He played for the NCAA Division I team of Oral Roberts University and was an All American for four years and received the President’s Award his senior year. From 1990 to 1994, he coached the men’s and women’s varsity tennis teams while completing his MBA in Finance. From 1992 to 1994, he played the professional satellite circuit. Anthony joined The Carolina Country Club in 2000, and in 2003 he was the South Carolina Male Player of the Year. He represents and has represented South Carolina at Senior Cup for the past ten years, with a win/loss record of 45-3. He was nominated to represent the USA in the Tony Trabert Cup in 2009. Anthony holds a professional certification from the Professional Tennis Registry, with the highest designation of “Professional”. With over 35 years of teaching experience, Anthony has a unique understanding of the game of tennis and is able to differentiate styles of players and instruct them to achieve their goals, whether they are aspiring juniors looking for college scholarships, professional players or club players. Anthony continues to play national tournaments at the open level.
As Director of Tennis at The Carolina Country Club, Anthony has built a comprehensive program with events and clinics for all ages and skill levels. Junior tennis starts at the age of 3 and goes through to the highest ranked juniors in the nation. Adult clinics start with programs for players who have never played and would like to enjoy the “sport of a lifetime” to our highest rated men and women players in the state. Assistant Tennis Professional, Nancy O’Dell-Keim (864-316-6159), is part of our dedicated team of professional instructors. A native of South Carolina, Nancy developed her passion for tennis at a young age, as she grew up in a family of tennis players. Nancy’s passion for the game can be seen through her high energy and enthusiasm on the court, as a teacher and a player.
Nancy was a top ranked junior in South Carolina, and played collegiately at Converse College. She played #1 singles and #1 doubles for Converse as she led her team to multiple regional championships and a bid to the NCAA Division II championships her senior year.
As an instructor, Nancy’s love of the game and her desire to share knowledge is evident through her teaching approach. Previous teaching experiences include teaching for the Furman University Summer Program, Thornblade Country Club, and the Greenville Recreation Department. She is USTA trained in Quick Start tennis, and has previously volunteered as the Quick Start tennis coach for The Boys and Girls Club.
Currently, Nancy is a USTA 5.0 rated player winning multiple state 5.0+ team championships at the 18+ age division, and has represented the state of SC in multiple Southern Sectional Championships. Nancy, her husband Scott, and two sons, Jake and Bryce, can often be found at the courts, continuing the family tradition.
